If you follow along on Instagram, I’m sure you already know that this past weekend Daniel and I celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary with a mini “staycation” at the hotel we stayed at for our wedding! The hotel is a boutique style hotel with the most gorgeous florals (think tons of bougainvillea) all over the property.
I have to admit that Friday afternoon before we were scheduled to check-in, I felt like spending all that money just to stay a few miles from our house was kind of a waste and I contemplated asking Daniel to call it off. We could just go to the same restaurant for dinner and it wouldn’t matter, right?!
Thank goodness I didn’t! There was something so fun about being a “tourist” in your own city, and I totally felt like I was on vacation. It most definitely was a mindset thing, and I even told Daniel on our way to dinner, “How many times have we sat at this intersection? Doesn’t it just feel different this time?!” 😂
One thing that made it feel special was that we went to a restaurant we had never been to. It gave it that “new” exploring feeling of being in a new place. We had dinner on the patio under trees and market lights [swoon!] at Paul Martin’s American Grill, and had the Steak + Bacon Tacos. Ummm…HELLO heaven! If you live near one of their locations please go and try them!
I wore this little Lush dress I picked up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale [for $31!] and it was the perfect Summer night dress. The bell sleeves are just the cutest, and I love how they’re not “full length” sleeves so they aren’t in the way the whole time.
I wore this slip underneath because I’m overly cautious about being able to see light through the bottom half of my dresses (anyone know what I’m talking about?!). It is such a great basic to have because the color will go under anything and the v-neck allows you to wear it with pretty much any neckline.
We went to BJ’s after dinner because #pizookie. Any excuse I have to get one I take full advantage of! And the next morning we had room service breakfast in bed, which I could definitely get used to. Overall, the weekend had me asking Daniel why we didn’t do this more often 😉. Talk about a change of heart!
Have you ever done a “staycation”? What made it feel extra special to you?
