Chances are you are probably headed somewhere for the holidays within the next month (hey, maybe even today!), so I thought it would be the perfect time to share some of my style tips while traveling.
I did a post on my travel essentials a while back, and so today I’m sharing four different types of outfits that I feel comfortable traveling in. I tend to stick to basics and always go with easy and comfortable when flying (or driving!), and so all of these are just that!
Just a heads up: If you hover on the “Holiday Shop” tab above, theres an option that says “Travel Essentials” where you can find all of these items and so many more that are necessities to have in your suitcase.
Generally when I fly, I like to leave for my destination early in the morning so that I still have part of the day left when I get there. This almost always means a ridiculously early wake up call, and almost no time to get ready if I want to hit snooze one three more times 😉. Styling my hair usually isn’t in the cards when I am scrambling at 4:30am to get dressed and make sure I have everything, so opting for a hat lets me look put together without spending any extra time getting ready. I really like this Brixton Piper hat that I’m wearing because you can choose your size and it won’t be too huge/too small!
Leggings and a tunic are also the most perfect travel outfit no matter what time you fly. This tunic sweater is less than $35 and these Lululemon leggings are my absolute favorites (I own two of this exact same pair!). I have heard great things about these leggings that are a great deal, and personally own this high-waisted pair which has more of a cotton feel than an athletic fabric.
Comfort is #1 whenever I am traveling, and Nikes are usually the definition of comfortable shoes. I have been addicted to the Nike Roshe Runs ever since I bought this black pair over a year ago, so when they came out with the Roshe Two’s not that long ago, I snagged this gray pair. Obsessed is an understatement!
For a long road trip, I could easily see myself wearing them with leggings and a cozy, oversized sweater like this Topshop one. It can obviously be dressed up way more than I am wearing it here, which is part of why I loved it so much…super versatile!
Pretty obvious, but a blanket scarf not only looks super cute and put together, but it doubles as a blanket! I am always cold no matter whether we are on a plane (why do my feet always freeze on airplanes?!) or in the car because Daniel likes the a/c way cooler than I do, so a blanket scarf is my secret way of bringing a blanket with me everywhere. This one is under $30!
In this outfit, I’m wearing it over my new favorite thermal (that I currently have in two colors already) which has thumbholes…the best! I love this look because you look super put together the second you arrive to your destination, but you could easily wear it for hours and don’t have to be uncomfortable the whole time you are traveling there.
And I swear I say it whenever traveling gets brought up at all, but my Longchamp bag and I are BFF’s when it comes to any kind of trip. This guy goes with me everywhere and for good reason! It’s virtually indestructible (mine is several years old), it wipes right down, and it carries so much without being insanely heavy on your shoulder. If you don’t have one, definitely add it to your Christmas list! [Mine is the large size]
A cardigan paired with a basic white tank underneath has been my go-to outfit this Fall. It looks cute alone and even cuter with a scarf piled on top (I am loving this combo from yesterday’s post!). The green color of this cardigan caught my eye because it’s a little different from the common olive color you see a lot of, but still a “neutral” in that you can pair it with pretty much everything. The fabric is so soft, which is why I think it would be perfect for a long day of traveling.
Flats are another one of my travel necessities when flying because they make going through security so much easier! I have to bring a pair of socks in my bag though, because as soon as I get on the plane my feet start to freeze…haha! This nude Sam Edelman pair has been my favorite this Fall. They are a perfect knock-off of these Chloe flats, and the footbed feels like memory foam!
I hope you and your families have a Happy Thanksgiving! Be sure to check back tomorrow and Black Friday for details on all of the sales that will be going on!
