I seriously can’t believe we are in the home stretch of this pregnancy! I’m currently 35 1/2 weeks and not going to lie, I am praying this little guy decides to come a bit early. Most of me feels more than ready to meet him, but I am such a planner and feel like there is still so much to do! The “nesting” phase that everyone talks about has overly kicked in, and I have already washed all his clothes…twice 😂.
When I was 32 weeks, my mom and sisters threw me a baby shower and it was incredible! They served Chick-fil-A nuggets, so many snacks, and tons of treats! I got so many amazing gifts and we have more baby gadgets than I’m sure you would ever need. We used BabyList to register which was super nice because you can add things from any website. Next time, I would personally use Amazon though because you can do the same thing, but afterward you get a 15% off discount on anything you still need to purchase that was on your registry! In case you’re curious what we registered for, I did a whole post on it HERE.
As far as the nursery goes, we are almost completely finished with it and just need decor for the walls. We are doing a completely neutral nursery with mostly white and gray tones, but I ordered six baby animal prints for above his crib to add a little something! I can’t wait to show you the final reveal soon! Be sure to follow along on Instagram Stories because I’ve been sharing sneak peeks there 😉.
Working out has become increasingly difficult since about week 30. I would say I’ve slowed down to 2-3 days a week, versus the 5-6 I was doing before I got pregnant and the 4 times per week I was able to maintain during my first and second trimester. And even then, I can’t push myself to the extent I used to…not even close 😂. Hey, I figure something is better than nothing! I shared my pregnancy workout routine HERE, but lately have mostly been doing spin classes during my third trimester.
As far as maternity clothes go, I really have been able to get away with wearing everything non-maternity except jeans. I did a whole post reviewing my favorite maternity jeans HERE. In my third trimester, this has definitely been my most-loved and most-worn pair. The other two pairs of maternity leggings I wear a lot are these Spanx faux leather leggings and these Blanqi postpartum leggings. I own the exact same pair of faux leather leggings in the non-maternity version, so I knew that I would get plenty of wear out of the maternity version. They have the softest belly band of any maternity item I own! The Blanqi leggings are so comfortable and work just great for maternity, even though they are “postpartum.” I am sure I’ll love wearing them after he comes too!
For tops and sweaters, I have just been sizing up one or two sizes to fit over my bump. This striped sweater has been on rotation every week for me (sized up to a M), and this Free People top I own in multiple colors and wear weekly as well (wearing my normal xs)!
At the start of my pregnancy, I knew the weight gain would be the most mentally challenging aspect for me. Every body and woman is different, but my doctor’s recommendation was that I would gain between 25-35 pounds by the time I gave birth. At this point, I have gained 26 pounds. I’ve still got 5 weeks to go, but have learned to accept that my body will go back!
I am most grateful that stretch marks have not appeared! Every morning and night I lather up my belly with a special stretch mark prevention lotion that we make at home (recipe to come soon!), and that along with many, many prayers is what I think has kept (and will keep!) them at bay! They do run in my family, so I knew there was definitely a possibility, but I am so grateful to report that I do not have them 😊.
Feelings our little boy move is hands down my favorite part of pregnancy!!! Since I first felt him move at 19 weeks, it has brought me so much joy! There is absolutely never a time where it has annoyed me or I have wanted it to stop because I just think it’s the cutest thing ever. I will say that the movement has definitely changed the further along I get, and now it is more of rolling than kicking or jabbing. I’ve felt hiccups a few times, and they are just the cutest thing EVER.
A couple of weeks ago we took our maternity photos with our favorite photographer, Abbi Cooley, and I just love how they turned out! We were originally planning on shooting them in the hills of Malibu, but sadly they are less than photo-ready due to the recent fires. So, Abbi suggested Vasquez Rocks for a similar look, and I loved it! I wore this long floral dress (non-maternity!) and just sized up one size (wearing a small). I pulled it above my bump and didn’t have to do any alterations at all!
Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to leave me any suggestions for how to make the next 5 weeks go by a little bit faster because I feel like I just can’t even wait! 🤗
Oh my goodness!! These photos are so beautiful! I loved reading this and can’t wait to see your nursery.
