Over the weekend, Daniel and I thought it would be fun to visit our local pumpkin patch and find some pumpkins to decorate our porch. The patch by our house is fairly large and well-known, and tends to get pretty busy on the weekends leading up to Halloween. So, we decided we would get up early yesterday and get there at 9am when they opened. Rookie mistake. I guess when you have kids, 9am is no longer early because there were tons of people lining up to get in! Joke was definitely on us “non-parents”…haha!
We knew we were going to be taking photos (one of the reasons we were attempting a time with less crowds 😉), so last week I started brainstorming cute outfit combos for the two of us. Whenever we are shooting photos together, I like to coordinate but not match. The key to styling outfits for a couple’s shoot is to pick a pattern for one person to wear, and dress the other in a solid color you want to pull from the pattern. For example, with these outfits I picked Daniel’s plaid shirt and wanted to pull out the burgundy color so I wore a solid burgundy sweater. If you choose two patterns, it can look busy and can be much tougher to coordinate!
I love that the buttons on my sweater give it a little something “extra” since it is a basic solid knit. It can be worn tucked in, and even be dressed up with a skirt for work! And this hat is perfect if you are like me and want to try the trend without a big investment. It’s only $39!
Daniel is pretty picky about what brands he wears, which actually makes shopping for him really simple. Bonobos is hands down his favorite for workwear, and when I saw this casual plaid at Nordstrom last week I knew he would love it! The brand fits him extremely well, and their shirts come in both a “slim” fit as well as a traditional fit. He wears the slim fit because he prefers his shirts more tailored. I mentioned in this post how we shop for almost all of his clothes at Nordstrom, and it’s primarily because they offer free shipping and he can try on everything at home!
Hope you have a great start to your week! Can’t wait to share our decorated front porch on Instagram with you! Stay tuned!
Thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring this post! As always, all opinions and selections are my own.
