You may have caught on Instagram that this past weekend I (along with a bunch of other bloggers) was in Dallas for the rewardStyle conference (aka #rStheCon). I have gotten so many questions about what in the world that even is, so today I wanted to share a little bit into what it is and why we attend as bloggers.
In order to really answer what the conference is, I think I need to bring a little clarity into what exactly rewardStyle is. In the simplest of terms, rewardStyle is an affiliate network that connects influencers with brands. They essentially act as the middleman between a brand or retailer (think: Nordstrom) and a digital influencer (aka blogger, YouTuber, etc.). They develop a relationship with the retailer and determine a percentage that a influencer will get when they generate a sale through that retailer’s website. This is one way bloggers make money (it’s called affiliate links) and it works exactly the same way as commission does for a salesperson. The consumer doesn’t pay any more for the product, the brand is just paying for the “advertisement” and sale they received from the influencer.
I’m sure by now you have heard of LIKEtoKNOW.it, which is rewardStyle’s Instagram monetization tool. If you “like” or screenshot a photo after downloading the LIKEtoKNOW.it app, you can get those product details sent straight to your phone or email. The influencer (like me!) sets up the photo ahead of time with all of those links, and when we make a sale off of one of the items, we make commissions the same we we would if it came directly from our blog. To learn more about the LIKEtoKNOW.it app, you can read this post HERE.
If you have more questions about this, feel free to email me! I realize it can be a “foreign language” and I’m pretty much an open book 😉.
rewardStyle is a huge advocate for bloggers (their founder was a blogger herself!) and they put on this conference each year to educate us on the new technological trends and give us an opportunity to meet with brands in person We sit in large group conference-type settings, as well as attend smaller breakout sessions on certain topics we want/need to learn more about. We also get face-to-face time with representatives from tons of brands all in one place, which is an opportunity as a blogger that you can’t get anywhere else! This year, I personally met with Express, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Colleen Rothschild to discuss exciting future partnerships that you may be seeing soon!
We are on the go from Thursday through Saturday all day long, but each night they throw a huge party to decompress from the day and meet other bloggers in person that we may only know via Instagram. I can’t tell you how many times I used and heard the expression, “Oh my gosh! It’s so nice to finally meet you in person!” this weekend…haha!
Thursday night after I arrived at the Hotel Crescent Court in Dallas (where the conference was held), we kicked things off with a pool party hosted by Sole Society. (I can’t tell you how many times I had to explain to my little sister that there wasn’t actually swimming at the party…haha!) I wore this gorgeous off-the-shoulder dress that I fell in love with when I saw it online. It’s even more gorgeous in person! The tassel details on the front and back are so fun, and the print is beautiful; it would make the most perfect vacation dress!
I can’t wait to share more of what I wore while I was there with you over the next week!
