On our second day in New York City, we headed down to SoHo to do some shopping. While we were there the weather was extremely hot and humid, but it got a little better as the week went on. The second day was supposed to be the worst, so we figured it would be best to be in and out of air conditioned stores on that day!
If you’ve never been shopping in SoHo, it’s a neighborhood in Manhattan that is “South of Houston St.” And you can pretty much find any and every store you can possibly think of within a few blocks!
Daniel found plenty of things to take home with us [thankfully our checked bag had some extra room 😉] and I found some pretty cute things too! While we were standing in the shade taking these photos, I noticed the cutest store right behind us called Oak + Fort. They’re primarily an international brand, but recently have opened up some U.S. stores.
When I walked in, I immediately thought that everything would be out of my price range. It totally had an “Eileen Fisher” feel to the clothing; everything was pretty neutral, all solids, and high quality fabrics. Just super classy basics you could mix and match for all seasons.
Luckily everything was in my budget (yay!) and I came home with a few pieces I love and can’t wait to show you!
While we shopped, I knew I was going to want to be comfortable and so I wore this easy tee and boyfriend shorts I picked up right before we left [after I checked what the weather would be 😉]. And when I say right before, I literally mean like a couple hours before…haha!
The new Sincerely Jules tees at Nordstrom are all so cute that I had a hard time choosing just one, but I thought this cities one was fitting for our trip. The chance of me adding a second one to my closet [especially this eyelash one] is very likely. They are the perfect amount of boxy, while still keeping a feminine fit.
And I have the hardest time finding boyfriend shorts that I think look flattering on, but I think these fit the bill! For some reason I think so many of them make me look “stumpy” because of how short my legs are, but I felt really comfortable in these.
Oh! And I just have to tell you guys about the coolest ice cream place we stopped at while looking for some new shoes for Daniel. It’s called Kith Treats, and you basically choose from almost any cereal you can think of (I picked Fruit Loops) and any topping (I chose Lucky Charms Marshmallows) and they blend it into an ice cream for you. Think like a McFlurry, only way finer of a blend. It’s like having milk + cereal, only way better!
If you visit, you must go there! It was Daniel’s favorite treat of the trip…and that’s saying something since I can’t even count how many treats we had!
