After getting tons of requests on Instagram lately, today I am finally sharing my everyday makeup routine! I change things up every so often, but lately I have been doing the exact same thing everyday, and it seems like you guys have been loving it as much as I have. I’m no beauty guru, but I have learned what does and doesn’t work of my skin by lots of trial and error .
Just a note: I have dry skin as well as pigmentation issues that I need to cover well.
Dry skin or not, the best base for flawless makeup is good skin! I’m going to do an updated skincare routine in a couple of weeks that will go more in depth of exactly the products & process I’ve been using recently, but this moisturizer is a must have for me as a base for my foundation. Non-greasy and super hydrating!
Since I do have pigmentation issues, protecting against further sun damage is HUGE for me!! I apply this lightweight sunscreen over my moisturizer and under my makeup every single day, rain or shine.
This concealer hides all! I apply it in a triangle shape under my eyes and blend it onto my eyelid, under eye, and bridge of my nose with a damp BeautyBlender. If you’ve never used a BeautyBlender, the way I do it is soak it in warm water for about 10-15 seconds, squeezing the water out and letting it fill back up several times. Then, turn off the water and fully squeeze it out in the sink and dry with a towel. This way it won’t have any water on it, but the dampness will allow for a much more natural finish!
I alternate between these two foundations depending on what kind of coverage I need or want that specific day. If I want a more natural finish, I always use the Too Faced ‘Born This Way’ and if I need a fuller coverage, I use the Estee Lauder ‘Double Wear’. The Too Faced foundation is great for dry skin and gives me the finish I truly love most, but it doesn’t last as long as the Double Wear, so if I need long lasting I opt for the Double Wear.
After applying my foundation, I set my under eye concealer with this setting powder. I rub my BeautyBlender in it and then pat it on my under eye and upper eyelid. It acts as the perfect base to apply my eyeshadow on. I used to set my whole face with this powder, but my skin has gotten too dry to do that over the past few years. This prevents any creasing of my eyeshadow or concealer. Definitely worth the price tag, and lasts a long time!!
This is probably the product I’ve used the longest (I think it’s going on 5 years)! I have tried other bronzers, but always go back to this one. One thing I love about it is how large it is. I replace it probably less than once a year, so it makes the price very reasonable. This fluffy bronzer brush makes it super simple to get a natural look. For every day, I tend to go for a more sun kissed look versus a “contoured” look and blend my bronzer along my hairline, around my face and jawline, and under my cheekbones.
Believe it or not, I started wearing blush only a couple years ago! If you are unsure about it, I can’t recommend this blush and color enough. It blends so nicely with your bronzer and adds subtle rosy color that it’s “pink” or over the top at all. This brush makes applying it foolproof, and I just add a small amount to the apples of my cheeks, toward my hairline in one sweeping motion. This may be gross, but I’ve only ever had to buy it once, and it still looks brand new.
I’ve been a long time user of the palette, and if you’ve followed me for a while, chances are that you’ve heard me talk about it many times! Not only are all of the colors usable for looks from everyday to night-time glam, but there is a great mix of matte and shimmer shadows. To start, I use the MAC 239 brush and apply the color ‘Primavera’ all over my lid. I then take my ring finger and dip it into the color ‘Vermeer’ and apply that to the inner corner and blend onto the lid. Lastly, I take my MAC 217 blending brush and mix a little of ‘Warm Taupe,’ ‘Raw Sienna,’ and ‘Burnt Orange.’ After I tap the brush to mix the colors, I blend that into my outer corner and crease to create shadowing and dimension.
I line my upper lid starting all the way from the inner corner, and do a very small, slight wing at the outer corner. This “opens” up my eyes a little without being a noticeable wing. I started using this eyeliner about 8 months ago after a reader recommended it, and I love it! It is a bit messy, so if you are new to liquid eyeliner or have a hard time with it, I would recommend using this one that is a little easier to control instead, but still very good!
Note: The past couple of months, I have had eyelash extensions just to make things a bit easier for the last couple of months of my pregnancy and birth of our little guy. I am going back to using mascara now though just because the maintenance of eyelash extensions is intense! This is my mascara routine when I don’t have lash extensions.
Big, full lashes are something I absolutely love and so while my mascara routine may seem a bit intense, it gives me the best results! I’ve found that mixing mascaras gives you the benefits of all of them versus just one. I start by applying a thin layer of the Dior mascara primer. While that dries, I do my eyebrows (see below), and then apply the L’Oréal Telescopic Mascara directly on top. I focus on the tips of my lashes and fanning them outward because the main benefit of this mascara is length! Lastly, after that layer dries, I apply the L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise on top of everything. It really adds so much fullness!
If you are picky about your lashes clumping, I can’t recommend this comb enough! It is made of needles and is definitely for very particular girls, but it works so well! Be careful though…it’s very sharp!
This powder gives a much more natural look than a pencil would. I mix the lighter and darker colors in the pan and use the angled brush to line the bottom of my eyebrow and give definition, before filling it in.
This is my go-to combo and the one I have gotten so many messages asking about! It truly is my favorite combo for my skin tone and think it is so pretty year-round. I love how this particular liquid lipstick feels and wears. It is long-wearing, however it isn’t drying like so many of them tend to be. And this lipliner color is my very favorite! I wear it with almost every lipstick shade I own.
Hope this was super helpful and you are able to try out a new product or two! Leave me your favorite in the comments so I can try them out, too!!
