This time of year (right after engagement season!) is when wedding invites start flooding in. Calendars are full of everything from bridal showers, to rehearsal dinners, to actual weddings, an it really doesn’t slow down again until the fall. Having versatile dresses you can wear to multiple events is key (huge #outfitrepeater over here!), and will make finding something to wear so much easier.
When picking out a dress for a Spring wedding, I look for (and avoid!) a couple of things. First, Spring is the perfect time to wear something feminine, whether it be the color, print (florals…yes please!), or the fabric. The chiffon fabric of this dress is my favorite part, and is what instantly made me fall in love with it, but the Cinderella blue color is definitely a close second. Look for light and flowy fabrics, or a thick, chunky lace. Avoiding a delicate fine lace will help as to not clash with the bride in case she chooses to wear it.
Speaking of things to avoid, I think the most obvious is white. Any shade of it. Or Ivory. Just don’t do it. If you stop to think, “Is this too close to white?” the answer is yes, and just find something else…haha! I feel like it’s the most obvious rule, but I am not lying when I say that every single wedding I attend, there is one guest wearing a white, lace dress. Why?! Just don’t be that girl 😉.
Especially during Spring, go for colors that a feminine and soft. I love the soft blue of this one, but lavender and lilac shades are really big this season and are perfect for any event. Cute cutouts and necklines, such as cold shoulder options, are also really pretty!
As far as formality, your best indication as to how formal to dress is the invite itself. If it looks more formal and the event is in a ballroom, chances are a floor length gown is most appropriate. On the other hand, if it’s outside, a dress such as this one would be perfect! Also watch for heels at outdoor weddings. Nothing is worse than getting stuck in grass with every step. Block heels are a huge trend for Spring, and are the perfect option. I am obsessed with this blush suede pair and have a feeling I will be wearing them to every event coming up!
Here are a bunch more gorgeous dress options that would be perfect for upcoming invitations you may have on your calendar!
