Happy Friday! Daniel and I are planning several trips in the next few months for our five year anniversary and other fun things, so I thought it would be the perfect time to share some of my tips for what to wear when traveling. Travel outfits for me have to be completely comfortable because I can’t stand to be cold or uncomfortable while sitting in a car or on a plane for a long period of time. But, I still want to look cute when I arrive to our destination! Here is a recipe for the perfect travel outfit that meets both of these needs:
I’m all for pretty tops in gorgeous fabrics, but traveling is just not the time and place for those. Whenever I travel, I opt for a cotton or jersey knit top that is lightweight and layer-able (is that a word?! haha). Something thin enough for when you get on the plane and it’s 100º, and easy enough to layer with a sweater when your husband likes the A/C on full blast during the whole road trip.
This Free People one-shoulder top is the perfect in-between option and so comfortable! I love bringing it with me on vacations because it looks so cute paired with shorts and jeans, and can be worn multiple times and ways throughout the course of a trip. The fabric is so soft! It does run a little small, so size up if between sizes.
This pair of jeans is my all-time favorite wash and fit, and whenever we go on long trips they are always the ones I reach for. Last week I talked about them in this Designer Denim Review post, and I have them in multiple washes. This is my newest pair and I think the raw hem is so fun for Summer (and the perfect easy hem for short girls like me!). Whatever pair happens to be your favorite, they are the best option for traveling! Not only are they comfy, but once you get to your destination, you’ll be able to wear them over and over. And any weight I can save in my suitcase is priceless 😉.
Whenever I fly, I always wear sandals or flats because of the fact that they are super easy to get on and off through security. However I recently did get Pre-Check so I get to keep my shoes on, and it is heavenly! What made me realize that these were a necessity was when I wore tennis shoes and socks to the airport one time and was running late to my gate to board. Let’s just say that when you wear slip on sandals, you eliminate the possibility of running through the airport in your socks…haha! And it works for road trips too because no one likes to keep their shoes on in the car anyways. Just a tip: I still always pack socks in my carry-on or purse in case my feet get cold!
What are some of your tips on what to wear to travel comfortably?

I am a legging type of girl. Most of the time when I fly I also wear sneakers and a flowy top. It’s just convenient. I like wearing sandals, especially for the summer.
