Lately I have been receiving lots of requests for workwear or business casual options. If you’ve been following me for not very long at all, I’m sure you can tell that I’m a casual style kinda girl, and that approximately 90% of the outfits I wear include a pair of ripped jeans. And if it doesn’t, it’s probably a dress 😉.
Thankfully I can wear my “uniform” seven days a week because I don’t have to dress up for work, but it hasn’t always been this way. Believe it or not, I was a high school teacher a couple years ago and ripped jeans were definitely not in the dress code! Having a wardrobe for work and one for weekend just wasn’t practical within my budget. Finding pieces that I could wear for both was absolutely necessary.
At the same time, I didn’t exactly want to look as dressed up as I did in the classroom while running errands on the weekends, and I definitely wanted to be more comfortable! Jeans were (and are!) obviously my go-to, so finding and incorporating tops into my closet that could work for both Monday and Saturday was the key.
While I was shopping last week, I came across this ruffle hem top and love how it’s a fun, on-trend spin on your classic work blouse. Express is the leader in workwear, and I love how they are incorporating pieces like this one that you can easily and stylishly take from work to weekend. Their portofino blouses are a staple for work attire and come in so many colors, and this is just a little different version of it. Just a tip: be sure to size up if you are between sizes or fuller chested because the fabric doesn’t stretch and they run a bit small!
Here I paired it with a pair of distressed denim (also under $100) and heels. Normally on a weekday you would find me in flats, but I love the way this looks for a night out, too. Versatile pieces like this are not only super convenient, but definitely give you the most for your money!
Below are a bunch of stylish options I love that you can incorporate from work to weekend!
