Fall 2015 Denim Buy Guide

Denim is probably one of the most difficult articles of clothing to shop for.  If there is one thing my mom, sisters, cousins, friends have trouble finding, it’s a good pair of jeans!  So, today I’m highlighting some really awesome pairs from my absolute favorite retailer to purchase denim from (heyyyy Nordies!) to help you with your fall denim shopping.  I truly feel that investing in quality denim is worth every penny…I mean, is there any item in your closet you wear as often?  You want them to be comfortable, while really flattering your figure!  And I really think you can tell the difference in quality materials, but maybe that’s just me?!
There are two pairs I feel every woman needs in her closet–a classic skinny, and a distressed skinny–as well as some fall trends that are super cute and you may want to jump in on (HELLO flares!).

Every girl should have that one pair of classic skinny that fit like a glove and are her “go-to.”  Everyone has different preferences like how high they like the rise, how skinny they want them at the ankle, etc., but here are some really awesome options I have found!
I can’t even start with number one (my OCD girls, I apologize!), I have to start with four!  This is my  go-to, my absolute favorite article of clothing in my closet…I can’t even say enough great things about it.  Haha, obviously I am passionate about these bad boys.  Yes, they are one of the most expensive pairs in this whole post, but they are worth every single penny.  However, the rise is high, so if that is not your thing definitely pass on these.  (But, I still would probably try to convince you 😉  Like even by offering you a black petite option and a cropped version)
Low-rise lovers, see number one.  If you prefer just a neutral mid-rise, these are a super deal!  The brand is such amazing quality, and I haven’t seen these go on this much of a sale ever.  Also, this brand tends to have heavier weight fabric (think: more substantial/a bit stiffer denim) and doesn’t have much “whiskering” so if you like that (raises hand!) check them out!  And I have a lot of friends that love Paige brand denim because of how thin it is, so these are a great sale option for you!
Style Tip:  Designer denim tends to run extremely long, so if you are tall, this is great news!  And if not, one of the reasons why Nordstrom is my favorite place to buy jeans is because they hem for free!  And, who doesn’t like free?!  For us short girls, it saves about $10 per pair!

Gone are the days of Abercrombie cornering the market on destroyed denim (bye, bye middle school!).  However, thankfully other brands have come to the rescue and made stylish and can I even say “polished” ripped jeans?  Is that a thing?  Whatever, I think it is.

If you’re currently on a budget, options two and three are amazing!  This pair is only $52 and this more distressed option is still under $100.  I can’t tell you how many friends I have that constantly rave about number two.  They say they are the right amount of skinny while still being loose fitting.  Order a size down, as I am told they stretch a full size!
Personally, I am going to invest in either number one or number four this fall (I can’t decide which one, so help me out in the comments!).  AG is a brand that I have to size up in because of how they fit me (pretty low rise), so I am not sure if that’s the case for you or not, but just throwing it out there!

While I feel making the investment in designer denim is more than worth it on classic styles, I can’t always get myself to bite the bullet on more trendy styles.  That being said, I am still such a fan of all the current denim trends right now, and definitely can’t wait to style them this fall!
Boyfriends jeans are a trend, but I feel like they’re a trend that’s here to stay!  These are super cute and aren’t too blown out, which is something I am always skeptical of when purchasing boyfriends.  I also like that they aren’t too, too baggy.  I prefer a more skinny/slim boyfriend!  And, I think the best part about this pair is that they’re only $48!  I honestly can’t remember the last time I found denim that inexpensive!
This black pair is one I will definitely be purchasing this season.  While not cheap, I feel like you can’t go wrong with black.  (Plus: the reviews say these don’t fade at all…I can’t stand when my black denim does that!)
Olive is one of fall’s hottest colors, and these skinnies will be awesome to pair with all kinds of cute sweaters, vests, and tunics!  They will look so good dressed up with a pair of heeled booties and a flowy top, as well as dressed down with a striped top (like this one I have in my cart!).
Flare jeans are making a huge comeback this season (actually it’s more like a whole 70’s wave!), and I know there are many haters out there…but not me!  I am a flare jean lover, and it’s one of the styles that has me so excited for fall!  This pair has all the great qualities of designer denim, but is on killer sale right now! It has 5 star reviews on the site and is so slimming!  Plus, the reviews say you get to size down, and who doesn’t like that 😉
Style Tip:  If you are petite like me, I would try to wear the flare trend with heels/wedges and have them hemmed so they are barely on the ground–this will elongate your legs and make you look longer and leaner!
As always, I am here to help!  I would love to help you find that perfect pair of jeans that you love in your price point, or help you style a trendy pair!  Shoot me an email and let’s chat!
