A utility jacket is hands down the most worn piece of outerwear in my closet during the Fall months.  The one I had from last year was looking pretty worn, so when I started planning warmer outfits I knew I would have to invest in another this year.

I was shopping at Madewell during our date night a couple of weeks ago, and came across this one (and a zillion other things…typcial Madewell trip 😉].  This fit was perfect and the thickness was perfect.  When looking for a jacket like this that I will be wearing in cooler months, the weight of the fabric is a big deal to me.  It has to be thick enough to keep me warm, but at the same time thin enough to layer.

This mock neck sweater was another find during that shopping trip and it is the most perfect basic.  It layers super cute under a jacket, but alone it has the cutest bell sleeve and knit pattern.  The neckline dresses it up a bit, but doesn’t give you the warmth of a turtleneck…something we definitely don’t need during a California Fall!
