It’s no secret that as you get older, the respect and love you have for your mom grows. You go from thinking she’s absolutely the craziest lady in the world for not letting you go to that 7th grade dance at the community center (thanks for that, mom!) to wanting to asking her opinion about every decision you make.
My mom is my backbone. I believe in myself and my dreams because she believes in me and my dreams. I hope when I have babies of my own, that I can be half the mom she was to my siblings and I. Today, I feel the absolute luckiest to get to call her my best friend, my workout partner, my Diet Coke-loving match, and (recently) my newest Something Beautiful employee! She’s also the one who taught me how to shop in the first place, so that’s saying something!
So when Nordstrom asked to parter on a post this month about women’s fashion, I knew there was none better to do it with than my mom. After all, my love of Nordstrom and clothes in general comes directly from her! We can shop with the best of ’em, and from an early age, my mom taught me to shop well (aka Nordstrom…haha)!
We took a overnight trip to Newport Beach every Summer before school started to go “back to school” shopping. (Sidenote: who else still wishes that was a thing?!) There was a Nordstrom directly across the street from our hotel, so we would head over and spend the entire day shopping. Who needs the beach when there’s a Nordstrom across the street? My mom and I share this same sentiment 😉.
She is always asking me to help her style outfits, so with Mother’s Day right around the corner, it was the perfect time. The key element of my mom’s style is comfort, but she likes to look sophisticated and put together at the same time. We got her my absolute favorite cardigan in an olive color to match her Sam Edelman espadrilles. The white blouse that she is wearing underneath it has the most gorgeous detailing and would make the best work-to-weekend basic. Oh, and it’s under $50!
To all the mommas out there, Happy Mother’s Day! And if your kids don’t recognize just how awesome you are yet, they’ll get there. After all, I was the one thinking my mom knew nothing about fun during that 7th grade dance 😉.
Thanks to Nordstrom for sponsoring today’s post! As always, all opinions and selections are my own.
