I am so excited to finally share our first home tour with you!!! Daniel and I moved into this house two weeks after we got married (six years ago!), and until recently it was the only place we had ever lived together. Needless to say, as wonderful as the new house is and the amount of gratitude I feel to be able to live there, the move was very bittersweet. We have made so many memories in this home, and I can truly say it was my all-time favorite place to be. We experienced so many laughs, tears, and dreams come to life there. It was where we moved in with a folding card table as our dining room table and eventually were able to purchase my dream Restoration Hardware dining set. God blessed us with this home immensely over six years and I am so grateful for everything we experienced together there. So, without further adu, let’s go inside my (former 😉) favorite place!
When you first walk in, there is a more “formal’ living room. When we moved out, this is what it looked like. My favorite piece in this room is hands down the blush velvet sofa! I am such a neutrals lover and when I ordered this it was almost on a whim and I second-guessed it the whole 6 months it took to come (yes, SIX months 🙄). I have loved it ever since they delivered it, and it fits perfectly in our new house as well.
It looks so cute on this gray rug that is also one of my favorite pieces! For a 9’x12′ it was such a great price, and still looks great! I am not a “shoes off in the house” person, so that’s saying something! And the newest buy before we left was this gold arc lamp from Anthropologie. I love to sit on this sofa and read, so this lamp was perfect!
The living room is attached to the dining space, which has probably changed the most drastically since we moved it. Like I mentioned earlier, when we first moved in we just had a small, foldable card table. Then we got a cute Crate & Barrel dark wood table off Craigslist (you can see it in the first picture above), and right before we moved I got my dream dining set from Restoration Hardware.
The set I finally decided on was the Salvaged Wood Trestle Table and the 1940’s French Barrelback Chairs in the white Perennials Classic Linen fabric. I have been so happy with them and they fit perfectly in our new home!
Through the dining room is our kitchen and family room combo space which is where we spent 90% of our time! We had a large sectional that could fit lots of guests comfortably and was perfect for the two of us to eat dinner on most nights.
The biggest transformation in this house was the kitchen. We completely gutted the original kitchen it had when we moved in and created my dream kitchen!
You can read all about the whole remodel and see tons of photos in this post.
I went with an all white look and gold fixtures and quartz countertops (we used Vadara ‘Carrara’). The biggest recommendation I can make now if you are looking to remodel your kitchen is to maximize how many drawers you can fit! Moving into the new house, I miss how many drawers I had throughout the kitchen and in the pantry. Our new kitchen and pantry are both significantly larger than our old space, however because they are more cabinet and shelf heavy vs. drawers, it actually fits a lot less!
One of the top questions I get about this house was what flooring we have, and we decided to go ahead and redo all of the floors in the house when we redid the kitchen. We went with laminate because we knew that one day we would be renting the house out and didn’t want to worry about the upkeep of real hardwood. We went with MegaClic laminate in the shade “Moonshine” and I loved it!
Upstairs we had three bedrooms: our master, a guest room, and my office. We actually had just finished remodeling our master bathroom the week we offered on the new house. Needless to say, moving clearly wasn’t in our immediate future plan, but God had other plans…haha!
Our master bedroom and bathroom were primarily white! I went with all white bedding on our Crate and Barrel upholstered bed that we have had since we got married. We still have this bed frame and have nothing but great things to say about it! I wanted the whole space to feel light, bright, and cozy so lots of fluffy comforters and pillows were in order.
You can see all about our bedding and more master bedroom details in this post.
With our master bathroom, I continued the all white theme and pulled in gray/beige neutrals with the marble tile and towels. I felt that going with basic surfaces would really allow me the flexibility to easily change the look in the future with towels and rugs. Going forward, this is exactly how I would remodel all rooms! Go with neutral bases that are the expensive parts, and make it unique with the soft pieces that are easy and cheap to switch out!

Lastly, I spent so much time in my home office that I feel like it deserves it’s own mention…haha! It was just down the hall from our bedroom, so it made it super easy to work (and at times wayyy too easy)! I had a super simple setup with just a desk from Ikea on a rug in the middle of the room. I added a small Elfa shelving system from The Container Store, and will be doing the same with my new office because I loved it so much!!
The gold bookshelf is actually also from Ikea and comes white. I spray painted each of the pieces gold before putting it all together. It’s under $100 and such a great buy! I displayed mostly handbags on it because I didn’t have the closet space to keep them in.
Hope you guys enjoyed getting to see all the details of our first home! Can’t wait to share the “before” of the new house with you really soon! Be sure to check out the video for a full tour below!
Your house is so beautiful! You should be really proud. It’s cute, cozy, feminine and a total reflection of you. I love it!
