When it comes to buying things and spending money, I have no problem pulling out my credit card for a new lipstick at Sephora or a new top at J Crew. But, if it’s something I actually need I literally will hold off buying it until Daniel actually makes me go out and get it [sometimes this means he actually takes me to the store to get it!]. The ongoing joke in our house is about body wash. I have never actually paid for a body wash, ever. You know how you get those coupons in the mail from Bath & Body Works for free items? Yep, I survive on those 😉 So bad.
Two of the things I really couldn’t see spending the extra money on were hair products and skincare products. Garnier shampoo and Cetaphil face products worked just fine for me in high school, so why wouldn’t they work forever? I remember about a year ago, I called my mom crying because my hair was breaking so bad. She immediately went out and bought me a huge haul of salon shampoos and conditioners, and let me tell you…there is a huge difference.
Shortly after that, I was reading about TULA skincare and figured I’d better start taking care of my skin now that I’m in my mid twenties [eeek!]. Since I am pretty much a skeptic about everything, I researched all there was to know. My degree is in pre-med [and business] so the science behind products like this is extremely important to me. I feel like if they can’t back it up with science, it probably isn’t worth your money…am I right?! TULA is founded by a gastroenterologist [a digestive tract doctor]. I thought this was so interesting because every single skincare product I have ever tried has been created/sold by a dermatologist. Why would an internal medicine doctor create a skincare line? She noticed all the discoveries made in the past few years regarding how beneficial probiotics are for balancing the digestive system, applied this same thing to skincare. Probiotics help achieve balance to your skin that helps balance your skin’s pH, reduces redness and inflammation, evens out skin’s tone & texture, hydrates, and helps reduce wrinkles! You can read more about the technology behind TULA here. [It’s okay to want to research and be skeptical…I totally was!]
I originally ordered just the Illuminating Face Serum and the Hydrating Day & Night Cream to try out the line. One of the other bloggers I read had posted a discount code, so I used that! [stay tuned…there’s one for YOU at the bottom of the post!] After the first time I used the products, I noticed a difference the next morning. My skin was so moisturized and soft. Over the next two weeks, I can’t even tell you guys the difference I saw. Every morning when I would get up, my skin would be red, blotchy, and uneven (especially around my eyes). I would hesitate to volunteer to chaperone high school camps or spend the night places where people would have to see me in the morning without makeup. There were times that I would wake up early just to put foundation on before everyone else got up so that my skin at least looked even. I had kind of accepted that this was how my skin was, but this is so not the case anymore!! My skin is perfectly even, looks dewy and moisturized, and is so extremely soft!
The Products
The serum and the moisturizing cream will forever be my favorite favorites because they are the ones I feel changed my skin forever. Since then, I have added in [almost] the whole line to my daily skincare routine. I like routines that I can do the same thing both morning and night because when I travel, I don’t have to bring a ton of different products.
I start with the Purifying Facial Cleanser, which is so gentle and soft, while still removing my make-up. I don’t like to use make-up wipes or remover just because I prefer just one step, and their cleanser takes all of my makeup off, no problem. I then apply about a dime-sized amount of the Illuminating Face Serum (probably my favorite of all their products) all over my face, and then apply the Hydrating Day & Night Cream. Lastly, I put the Revitalizing Eye Cream around my eye area. This is the newest product to me, and I can already notice a difference in how moisturized my under eye area is, and how easy my concealer goes on over top of it. I feel really good about starting anti-aging products now, before I have wrinkles, to hopefully prevent early aging! About once a week, I do the Exfoliating Treatment Mask, and it leaves my skin so, so soft and smooth. I really should make it a priority to do it more than once a week, but I just get too busy most weeks!
The only product I have yet to try is the Advanced Neck Cream, which will be in my next order!
So, while TULA isn’t the least expensive skincare you can find, it gives better results than any other product I have ever tried! I’m sure you’re like me and have a zillion different products in your bathroom that are half-used 😉 I just usually don’t love something for very long after getting it, which is the reason I felt like higher-end skincare wasn’t worth the price tag. I think my TULA products are the first that I have actually used all of, and ordered more! You definitely should check out the reviews on the products on their site if you’re skeptical like I was! I have never seen so many positive reviews! And just for the record, I am not being paid to say any of this! I just feel like I need to tell the whole world to use TULA products 😉
I recommend starting with the Discovery Kit! It is trial sized versions of the Purifying Face Cleanser, Illuminating Face Serum, Hydrating Day & Night Cream, & Revitalizing Eye Cream, and it’s only $54. Then order full-sized versions of your favorites!
And right now TULA is offering 20% off to all of you with the code ‘somethingbeautiful20’! Which makes the Discovery Kit like $40!
Have any of you tried the TULA line before? What products are your favorites?
Just scored the discovery kit for $41! Thanks for the coupon code! I'm super excited to give this a try because my skin has decided that simple toner and moisturizer just doesn't cut it anymore.
