I thought it would be fun to show you what a typical #ootd looks like in my book. If we’re being totally honest here, about three out of the five weekdays, you can find me in workout clothes. And while I love putting on cute outfits and getting all dressed up, who really has time for that every day?! Since I love hearing about what other people’s day looks like I thought I would share a glimpse with you into mine [Even though, I have to admit it feels so funny to be writing a post on this. I feel like, “Who really cares what you do all day, Daryl-Ann.” But hey, I love reading about other people so maybe it’s not so weird 😉].
Morning
On a typical weekday morning, I wake up around 6:45 and usually head straight to my workout. Recently I started working out with a trainer two days a week in a small group and I have been loving it! If you throw me in a gym for an hour, I feel so intimidated and honestly have no idea what I’m doing, so you can bet I will spend the entire hour on the elliptical or some other cardio machine. Like no “gym guy” wants some small girl who knows nothing about weights over on the machines. I constantly feel like I’m in someone’s way and I don’t know how to do it right anyways. But now my trainer plans my workout and I don’t have to think about anything and i get a full body workout. Win-win. On days where I don’t work out with the trainer, I will do a group cycling class (I’m obsessed with SoulCycle).
After my workout, I will usually spend a little time getting ready before work. That typically looks like a quick shower, a lot of dry shampoo, and a little makeup. If I don’t have any meetings that day, I will usually put on workout clothes, or something like this outfit! During the fall I think it’s so easy to get away with a simple sweater with a scarf piled on top. It somehow looks so much more put together than just workout clothes, but is just as easy and comfortable!
Once I’m dressed and ready, I head down the hall to my home office. I am not the type of person who can work effectively in pajamas or sweats; I have to at least be clean and presentable and I will get so much more done! From about 9:30-12:30 I work on blog things: emails, posts, collaborations, editing photos, accounting, etc. There is so much that goes into the back-end of a blog that I never knew about until I actually had one myself!
Afternoon
Between 12:30 and 1:00 I usually meet up with Daniel (if he’s in town) or my mom for a quick lunch. After that, I head to my “real job” for the second half of the workday. My family owns a construction company and I run the office staff! I absolutely love it, and it used to be my full-time job before blogging. And even though I can’t see myself ever quitting completely, it’s slowly become less and less hours over the past year.
Not really much else interesting goes into my afternoons (unless payroll, insurance, and accounting are your thing 😉), but I love that it lets me use my business degree in real life!
Evening
Around 6:00 I usually am home from work and cooking dinner (a rare occasion), doing chores around the house, or walking with Ryleigh before Daniel gets home. He’s been working pretty long hours lately and doesn’t usually get home until after 7. Then we will head out to dinner (Thursdays we always go out for date night!) or have dinner in and watch one of our favorite TV shows. The Blacklist, Suits, Scandal, and The Catch are our all-time favorites!
I usually spend a good portion of the night working on more blog stuff, responding to emails, or online shopping for more content!
We typically try to head to bed around 10:30-11:00 each night, which I am pretty horrible at…haha! If I end up in bed at a decent time, I love to read before I go to sleep. Right now I’m in the middle of ‘Present over Perfect’ and I am loving it so far. Definitely a must read for any woman who has her own business/is a work-a-holic!
So that’s a typical day for me! Hope that didn’t bore you all too much (gosh, why does it seem so interesting when it’s other people’s lives, but with yourself it seems so boring…lol). Have an awesome weekend! Thank you so much for reading!
