Daniel and I have been married for four years this month! Even saying that doesn’t feel real. On one hand, I can put myself back on our wedding day like it was last week, but on the other hand we have grown so much and experienced so much together over the course of four years.
I still feel like we are newlyweds at times because we are always having fun, traveling, going out on weeknights, etc. [I am well aware that all of this will look different when we have kids one day ;)] Weekday date nights are one the things that have helped keep our marriage fun and our days from feeling monotonous. I can’t stand when I feel like I – wake up, work, come home, make dinner, go to bed – over and over. It’s probably my biggest pet peeve!
Thursdays are my favorite days to go out because it’s almost the weekend and gets the excitement started earlier. Usually our dates are something as simple as dinner out (my favorite is Cheesecake Factory and Daniel’s is anything and everything Mexican), coming home, making cookies, and watching a TV show, but it’s just the mentality that it is “a date” that makes it way more fun!
And while I love coming home from work and putting on a cute dress and heels for our dates, sometimes I just don’t feel like it. Can I get an “Amen”? Daniel would be just as happy if I wore Lululemons and Nikes, but it doesn’t have that special “date night feel” to me if I do that. My go-to on nights where I want to be comfy but cute are a cute top, jeans, and sandals: the perfect compromise.
This Anthropologie top totally fits that bill and can easily be transitioned from the office to date night by just switching your work pants for jeans and your flats for sandals. I love the cream and black combo because it will transition to fall so easily, and I’m all about being able wearing things for as long as possible. And don’t get me started on the slight bell sleeve: subtle and not over the top. Perfect if you aren’t sure about the trend!
