December 7, 2016
The weather has finally cooled off for good in California (I’m cringing that I just said that because I don’t want to jinx it!), and while I am absolutely loving the change when it comes to clothes (bring me all the sweaters and scarves), I am not loving the dry skin so much. Around this time every year, I have to change up my skincare routine because the weather causes it to be even more dry than it typically is. It’s most noticeable on my face and my hands, so I wanted to share what I’ve been using to combat the recent onset of dryness.
From previous skincare posts, you know I’m addicted to the whole TULA skincare line and that it has worked wonders on my sensitive skin. And today, they are giving Something Beautiful readers my absolute favorite item for FREE with any purchase [code below]!
A while back I talked about my daily skincare routine, and while some things have remained exactly the same, there are a couple things that have changed to help maintain moisture in my skin during these dry months. I still wash my face with the TULA Purifying Facial Cleanser, but rather than washing morning and night, I skip mornings and just wash with cleanser at night (I just rinse with water in the AM). Stripping the oils off of my skin actually does more harm than good for me this time of year, so I can’t afford to wash twice a day. If you tend to have oily skin, you can probably get away with still washing twice, as the cleanser is so gentle, but I am already prone to dry skin so I have to skip.
In the mornings and at night, I still apply the Illuminating Face Serum underneath my moisturizer. It brightens and freshens my skin in the mornings which really helps since I am not getting the brightening effect I usually get from a cleanser. Underneath my makeup, I apply the Hydrating Day & Night Cream which my holy grail moisturizer! And at night, I use the Overnight Skin Rescue treatment in place of a typical moisturizer. I don’t think you are supposed to use it nightly, but my skin is on the extreme end of the dry spectrum, so I definitely can use all the hydration I can get.
If you have combination to oily skin, I would recommend using it every two to three nights to as a “reboot” to add hydration back into your skin. When you wake up, your skin looks so plump and dewy! This is a must-try and should be on your Christmas list this year!
As far as new additions, I recently got the Moisture Locking Hand Cream and it has been in my purse ever since! My hands are the absolute worst right now between the So Cal winds and the cooler temperatures so I have to have something on-hand at all times. I’m really picky about hand creams because they’re often too greasy for me, but this one dries non-greasy and has really rich shea butter to help with cracking and dryness.
If I absolutely had to name my Top Four TULA products, they would be these (in this order):
1. Hydrating Day & Night Cream
2. Purifying Facial Cleanser
3. Multi Spectrum Overnight Skin Rescue Treatment
4. Illuminating Facial Serum
With the holidays coming, they are offering the cutest stocking stuffers, and I have to highlight this one (in the picture below) because it contains travel sized/trial versions of two out of my top four and comes gift wrapped!
And I’m so excited because today TULA is giving Something Beautiful readers a FREE full-sized Hand Cream and a travel-sized Hydrating Day & Night cream with any purchase over $30 with code ‘DARYLANNGIFT’ today (12/7) at checkout!
If you’ve never tried TULA before, try the Discovery Kit! It’s travel-sized versions of all the basics so you can see how your skin reacts to the products and what your favorites are before you purchase the full-size versions, and you’ll get the two extras for free!
