3 Easy Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

Hey Friends,

It’s Daniel! I also go by Daryl-Ann’s husband, Rhett’s dad, and Instagram Husband. All great names and I am proud of each one of them. So, I am the guy that is lucky enough to have Daryl-Ann as my forever valentine and since we have been doing this for a few years (12 if anyone is counting 😉), we have done a lot of different things for Valentine’s Day from your classic “dinner and a movie,” to the dinner with the parents (which can actually be fun…see below), to small vacations. And if you’re still searching for what to do to celebrate with your Valentine, I put together a few ideas we love.

Date Night In

Daryl-Ann and I have done this a few times for Valentine’s and we have really loved it.  In fact, this is what we have planned for this Valentine’s Day with our new third wheel 😂. We are going to cook a Home Chef meal together (no grocery shopping for the win!), and then we are going to find a great dessert to make together from Pinterest.  After dinner we will play some board games and binge watch one of our favorite shows, Million Dollar Listing.

Another thing we love to do is spend Valentine’s with Daryl-Ann’s family.  Her mom always throws a Valentine’s Day dinner every year where she decorates the house, cooks prime rib dinner, and gives small gifts. All Daryl-Ann’s siblings make it a point to be there because it’s been their tradition since they were kids.  Super cool idea to do if you have a family! And now that we have little Rhett guy we are thinking a little more about traditions to implement.

Weekend Trip

Use Valentine’s Day as an excuse to travel to a nearby town or that getaway spot you have been wanting to go to!  Find a nice hotel or Airbnb.  We have done a staycation at a hotel in our town and explored new restaurants that we haven’t been to before.  Most weekends we round the same few restaurants (#creaturesofhabit), but this makes it feel like you’re a tourist in your own town!

One of our frequented mini getaways is Newport Beach. It’s only a couple hours away from home for us, and is such a beautiful place full of shopping and good food. What else could you want?  That’s right up our alley.  Daryl-Ann is in it for the shopping and I’m in it for the food. Some other super fun weekend trips that we have done are San Diego, Carmel, Seattle, New York, and (Daryl-Ann’s favorite) the Disneyland Hotel.  One that we are looking forward to going on in the near future is Chicago.  It’s actually on our travel lit for this next year!

Go to a workout class together

Change the pace a little bit and take a workout class together. This could be really fun to do together and it could be really entertaining depending on if working out is in your normal routine or not. You can bet you will get a laugh or two.  And if not, at least you have your second half to check out while doing it 😉.

Daryl-Ann and I used to go to SoulCycle together on Saturday mornings and get breakfast or lunch after. So, if you want to beat the crowds and sweat it out with your boo this one is for you!

Hope these ideas helped or at least got you closer to your ultimate Valentine’s Day plan! Daryl-Ann and I may or may not be sharing our date night in on Valentine’s Day, so if you are interested in whether or not it was a success come check out her Instagram Story on Thursday!

Thanks for this post. I really like the idea of working out together. I’m going to see if I can get my boyfriend to do that.
