I can hardly believe that Valentine’s Day is only two weeks away! Just like every year, this one is flying by and before we know it, Summer will be here. Okay, well maybe not Summer, but Spring for sure. We had a taste of warmer weather yesterday, and out of no where it was 75 degrees! Definitely was wearing a chunky sweater and not prepared…haha!
Daniel and I have celebrated Valentine’s Day different every year, so today I wanted to share some of our favorite things to do that may inspire you for your own date this year! He always plans something fun for us, and I’m not sure what it will be this year, but just in case it’s fancy I ordered this dress 😉 I was definitely unsure of how I would like the asymmetrical ruffle, but I’m loving it! It also comes in a blush pink version.
There isn’t a girl I know that can honestly say she doesn’t like getting all dress up and having someone treat her to a fancy dinner. Yes, it may be typical and the “cliché” Valentine’s Day date, but for good reason! There have been years where we celebrated this way, and they are some of my favorite memories. One year we went to The Melting Pot where every course of your meal is fondue: cheese for appetizers, then meats, and then chocolate for dessert. Such a fun experience!
The restaurants are busy, but if you make reservations in advance, you can easily get a nice table and have a great time! But if crowds aren’t your thing, go out a day or two later. We’ve done this too and I haven’t missed that we didn’t celebrate on “the day” one bit.
If you’re headed out somewhere nice with your man in a couple of weeks, here are some super cute options you can order now and have in time! This one with the lace back is my favorite, and this one is only $58!
Two years ago, Daniel and I skipped the fancy dinner and headed to the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles because it is a major local landmark here and neither of us had ever seen it! We had the best time listening to music the way there and then seeing the sunset and stars from the top of the hill. Sidenote: Probably a good idea to do your research about the landmark if you’ve never been before. I had no idea we would be hiking up a long hill and was not wearing appropriate shoes, at all. Makes for a funny thing to look back on, but my feet were not thinking it was so funny that night…haha!
On our way home, we went to Chick-Fil-A and exchanged cards right there in the booth…haha! Nothing fancy, but no less fun (any a funny memory!). It’s so important to have someone you can do simple things with and have just as much fun as the elaborate times!
Last Valentine’s Day Daniel suggested this, and since I am not much of a cook, I tried to change his mind on the whole idea. But, I could have not been more wrong! We googled recipes for steaks and side dishes and made our own “steak dinner” for two. Complete with fancy drinks and candles on the table.
If you try this idea, make sure you make it extra special with the decor and lighting! It really made all the difference and didn’t feel at all like our typical dinners at home. Afterward, we cozied up on the couch with dessert and watched a movie together. We had so much much fun with this that we are debating doing it again this year! [I’m still trying to convince him to go out a couple days later too…I’ll keep you posted.]
And if you’re still on the hunt for a gift for your guy, be sure to check out this post from last week with tons of ideas under $100 for him and little treats for your girlfriends, too!
What is your ideal Valentine’s Day date night? Have you done anything fun that Daniel and I need to try? We would love to hear in the comments!
Such great Valentine’s Day date ideas! That dress too is AMAZING!!
