Daniel and I are currently in the process of remodeling our master bedroom and bathroom.  We’re really remodeling the whole home, but we have been doing it in stages because of time and money restraints (#realtalk home renovations are EXPENSIVE).  Last year we finished the kitchen which you can see HERE, and we are currently working on our bedroom!  To get started, we changed out the bedding because I knew no matter what we were going to do that I wanted all white bedding.

An all white bed was a total dream of mine, and specifically a fluffyall white bed!  I knew I wanted it to not just be super cozy, but also to give a super fluffy, cozy appearance as well.  Our last bedding set was pretty flat no matter what I did, and so I was on a mission to fluff things up!  I started gathering images from Pinterest, as well as catalogs.  Pottery Barn, Anthropologie Home, Ballard Designs, and Restoration Hardware are some of my favorite catalogs to gain inspiration from!

As far as furniture goes, we decided to keep our current bed frame and nightstands.  They are neutral enough to go with everything, and I still really like them.  If you have the money to invest, buy quality furniture.  The pieces that I have invested more on in our home are the ones that I have never tired of.  But, the cheaper, trendier pieces I tend to get sick of pretty quickly and probably end up spending more money switching them out than if I would have just bought a timeless piece to begin with.

The last thing I would suggest when it comes to bedroom furniture is to go smaller rather than larger.  We technically could have fit a king bed in our bedroom, but chose a queen with larger nightstands.  The smaller frame helps give the illusion of a larger space!

Now onto the bedding!  One of the most confusing things to me when I was shopping was not just what to buy, but how to make the bed.  No one really teaches you how to “dress” your bed (or at least I never learned), so if you want it super cozy like ours, I have a few techniques I will share!

Starting from the mattress up, I have white fitted sheet, a flat sheet, and a linen diamond quilt.  We fold the linen quilt and flat sheet so that it looks tailored.  You can see the photo of a close up below!  On top of the quilt, we have a super soft and fluffy down comforter with a Tencel duvet on it (the one folded closest to the pillows).  I’ve gotten tons of questions about our comforters, and in case you’re curious as well: the comforter is the insert and usually comes in down/down alternative and the duvet is the cover that the comforter goes inside of.  The comforter is typically the expensive part, especially if you are going with a high quality down!

The comforter really is what makes all the difference in fluffiness!  We have this comforter inside of the Tencel duvet and we sleep with it if we are cold.  It is my favorite part of our bedding because it is SO COZY!!!  I’ve had tons of down comforters in the past, and this one is hands down my favorite.

Lastly, we have a thick comforter at the base that is just for looks.  It has a linen duvet on it which is super cute because it ties in the linen trim on the Tencel duvet right above it, as well as the linen in the diamond quilt.

I think what give our all white bedding the super fluffy look is the fact that we have multiple comforters.  The volume they add to the bottom of the bed is what gives it such a cozy appearance, in my opinion!  If you are looking to add multiple comforters to your bed, I would recommend that you get both duvets from the same brand.  Often times, sheet sizing can vary by brand (even if it is the same technical “queen” size) and they won’t match up along the edge when you fold them.  That really bothered me when I was trying different options out, so I ended up sticking with Pottery Barn for both the Tencel duvet and the linen duvet.

For pillows, we use these silk pillowcases on the ones we actually sleep with.  Silk pillowcases help keep your hair nice, and Daniel likes it because it stays nice and cool.  He was always stealing mine, so I ended up getting him his own…haha!  Then I have three large Euro pillows along the back of the bed with a cute embroidered trim.  And in the very front are these simple Tencel shams that match the Tencel duvet and have a linen trim on the edges that ties everything together.  One day I may add some color with pillows, but for now I love the all white look!

As for keeping an all white bed clean, my secret is…BLEACH!  Honestly I feel like all white is easier to take care of than a lot of different colors because you do have the option to just bleach it.  We have all white bedding on both our bed and our guest bed, and it makes laundry so simple because I can just throw it all in with some bleach and call it good!

What are your thoughts on an all white bed?  And please let me know if there was anything I missed that you want to know!

Do you have an actual pillow (to sleep with) that you love? That has been the hardest part of getting my bed perfectly comfy!

Your white bedding is so pretty! I also have white bedding and sleep with a quilt but my husband is too hot under a duvet so that’s in storage. Your bedroom is gorgeous.
